What is the role of the School Counselor?
The Greeley School Counselors support their student's academic, social and emotional wellbeing throughout their high school years. This includes monitoring student report cards and progress reports, guiding their course selection each year, helping them to become involved in the school community and walking them through the college search and post-secondary planning process. Counselors are assigned to students in ninth grade and stay with the student throughout their high school career. There are several factors that we keep in mind when we assign students to counselors. Most typically, if families have had older children attend Greeley, we assign younger siblings the same counselor. In addition, we are conscious of balancing the numbers of students assigned to each counselor in order to ensure that we are able to develop relationships with our families and to be responsive to our student’s needs.
How do students meet with their counselors?
We welcome students to see their counselors throughout the school year. Counselors schedule independent meetings with their ninth graders and seniors during the first quarter. Counselors schedule independent and group meetings with their eleventh graders in the second quarter and with their tenth graders in the third quarter.
In addition, students can always schedule appointments during their free periods with the counseling department secretaries or email their counselors directly. Counselors work with their students in small groups and individually throughout the school year and will email students to arrange appointments via their school email addresses.
Counselors invite their student's families to meet with them once a year for a "family meeting." Invitations for these meetings are sent via E-blast at the following points in the year:
- Freshmen: October & November
- Sophomores: May & June
- Juniors: February – April
- Seniors: September & October

If I have a question about my child’s attendance who should I call?
Ms. LoBreglio works in the attendance office and her phone number is 238-7201 x2131. Also, your child’s Assistant Principal is in charge of overseeing their attendance.
My child will not be in school today because they are sick. How will they get their homework assignments and find out what they missed in class?
If your son or daughter is out sick and misses a day or two of school, please have them check Canvas to update them on what was missed in class. They can also call a classmate or e-mail the teacher directly. Students that will miss more than three days of school in a row should contact their counselor to make alternative arrangements.
I have questions about my son or daughter's most recent grade in a given class. Who should I call?
Encouraging your son or daughter to speak directly with their teacher about any questions or concerns they have is a great first step. By doing this, you are supporting your son or daughter's move toward self-advocacy. If after they speak to the teacher you still have questions or concerns, please e-mail or call the teacher directly to speak with them. If you are concerned about issues in several different classes please call your son or daughter's counselor to share your concerns.
How are grades calculated?

When is my child’s GPA recalculated?
Grade point averages are recalculated once courses are completed at the end of the first semester and again when courses are completed in June.
What are the other supports at Greeley?
