President Jane Kimmel Shepardson called for a motion to open the public meeting.

Motioned by Hilary Grasso to open the meeting at 9:06 am.  Seconded by Cailee Hwang.  Motion carried 5-0.

1.       President’s Report

1.1    BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby ratifies the report of the November 29, 2022 Special District Meeting Bond Vote.

Motioned by Jane Kimmel Shepardson to ratify the report of the November 29, 2022 Special District Meeting Bond Vote.  Seconded by Hilary Grasso.  Motion carried 5-0.

2.      Superintendent’s Report – Living Environment – moved to after 4.2

3.      Recommended Action:   Personnel 

Dr. Ackerman recommended Item 3.1 as stated below.

3.1    Instructional

Resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED that, the Board of Education hereby appoints the individuals listed as per diem substitute teachers to be employed on an “as needed” basis:

Margaret Callan
Christine Marra
Kayla Petrilli

Resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby appoints the individual listed as a mentor for students, effective December 1, 2022 at the rate of $500, per semester, pro-rated:

Dr. Joe Mazza

Resignation:
Mr. Daniel Valentin, Teacher of English, Horace Greeley High School, effective November 30, 2022.

Motioned by Jane Kimmel Shepardson to approve Item 3.1 as stated above.  Seconded by Cailee Hwang.  Motion carried 5-0.

Dr. Ackerman recommended Item 3.2 as stated below.

3.2    Non-Instructional   

Appointment:
Lauren Rubeo, Office Assistant-Automated Systems, at an annual salary of $53,103 (pro-rated), Step 10 of the COSA Contract, effective November 29, 2022.

Anne Holmquist, Purchasing Agent, at the rate of $55.00 per hour, 17.5 hours per week, effective December 5, 2022, pending fingerprint clearance.

Resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby approves a supplement stipend of $2,500 for Paola Conklin for the period of July 1, 2022 through August 31, 2022 in support of the Human Resources leadership transition.

Motioned by Hilary Grasso to approve Item 3.2 as stated above.  Seconded by Warren Messner.  Motion carried 5-0.

4.      BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education acknowledges the following contracts approved by the Superintendent, per Board Policy 6085 – Purchasing and Bidding:

4.1    An Agreement for Services with One Trusted Adult for professional development workshops on January 25, 2023.

4.2    An Agreement with Penguin Random House Speakers Bureau for Matt de la Pena to speak at Unity Day on December 9, 2022.

Motioned by Hilary Grasso to acknowledge Items 4.1 and 4.2 as stated above.  Seconded by Ryan Kelsey.  Motion carried 5-0.

Living Environment Presentation

Motioned by Cailee Hwang to adjourn into Executive Session at 10:31 am to discuss litigation and the employment history of particular persons.  Seconded by Warren Messner.  Motion carried 5-0.

Motioned by Warren Messner to reconvene the public meeting at 10:45 am.  Seconded by Cailee Hwang.  Motion carried 5-0.
