Superintendent’s Update #40

May 3, 2022

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Families,

I am writing to provide an update on reported COVID-19 cases throughout our District.

Below you will find information on positive cases reported across our buildings since Saturday, April 30th. This table also includes information on “clusters” or situations where 3 or more individuals in a particular space, such as a classroom or school bus, have tested positive.

In comparison, last week (4/23-4/29) we reported 79 total cases in a seven day period. During this same time, we recorded two cluster notifications. The cases reported in the table above show a significant increase during a four day period this week (4/30-5/3).

The NYS Department of Health has not shared new guidance for public school districts, so we will continue our current operations. I share this information with you so that you can make informed decisions regarding masking, social distancing, and extracurricular activities.

As a reminder, students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 must fill out the attestation form before returning to school. Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 must be masked while inside on days 6-10, need medical clearance before returning to CCSD athletics, may not participate in instrumental music without a mask, and must maintain six feet of distance while eating lunch inside. Only students and staff who are COVID-19 positive may access our program remotely (you can access our COVID-19 procedures here).

COVID-19 home tests will continue to be available for families at any security vestibule during regular school hours.

Thank you for your understanding and support. Our next parent notification will be sent this Friday (5/6/22).

Sincerely,

Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
