Superintendent’s Update #33

February 10, 2022

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Families,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you to share with you the 2022-2023 school calendar and adjustments to our COVID-19 protocols shared last night at the Board of Education meeting.

  • School Calendar:  Please access our calendar for the next academic year here.

  • Remote Instruction Students/Staff Access Adjustment:  All unvaccinated students and staff now have the ability to test-to-stay, based on the recent changes in NYSDOH guidance. As a result of this adjustment, only individuals who are COVID-19 positive and students who are medically fragile and unable to be vaccinated will be able to access our program remotely.

Please contact the school nurse if your child is COVID-19 positive and you would like them to access school remotely. Please contact Jamie Eldeman, Interim Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services, if your child is medically fragile and unable to be vaccinated to determine if they qualify for remote instruction.

  • Required Testing for Unvaccinated Staff/Unvaccinated Athletes Moves to Home Testing Program:  Our testing program will transition to a home-testing model using the iHealth kits provided by the NYSDOH. Testing on Monday afternoons at Seven Bridges will be discontinued until further notice.

  • COVID-19 Test Kit Availability for All Students:  Please stop by the security vestibule at your child’s school this week to pick up one home test kit for each student in your household. Should you need additional tests for your child, please visit our Home Testing Program webpage.

  • COVID-19 Practice Adjustments in our Classrooms:  We have had a significant reduction in cases in the District. Therefore, our faculty will again exercise flexibility in our learning spaces to support instruction as they were prior to the December break.

  • Snow Day Update if We Exceed Our Days:  There is one remaining snow day in our calendar. Should we use this day and need another, our District will move to full remote instruction, provided our students and the majority of staff can access the necessary technology (ex. we will not work remotely if 50% of the District is without power due to a storm).

Remote instruction on our sixth snow day will operate on a TWO HOUR DELAY schedule so we can ascertain any potential issues in the morning and communicate as necessary with families. Your child’s principal will share with you further information on how each building will move forward if the situation is upon us.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will continue to make appropriate adjustments as the pandemic continues to evolve.

Sincerely,

Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
