Superintendent’s Update #29

January 25, 2022

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Families and Staff,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to update you on indoor masking requirements for public school districts based on new information released from the New York State Education Department this evening.

The following notification was sent by email from NYSED:

STATEMENT FROM COMMISSIONER BETTY A. ROSA
ON GRANTING OF STAY IN MASK CASE

We are pleased the Appellate Division granted the application by the Department of Health and the Governor’s office, confirming the lower court’s decision is stayed pending further proceedings. As such, the mask mandate remains in effect for schools across the state. We support Governor Hochul and the state Department of Health as they continue with the appeal. We thank the members of our school communities for their patience during this process.

As a result of this new development, masks will continue to be required in our schools and on District transportation until further notice. I will share with you any new developments as this situation evolves.

Sincerely,

Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
