Superintendent’s Update #18

December 15, 2021

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Families and Staff,

I hope this email finds you well. I write to share that on Monday (12/13), superintendents received an email from the New York State Department of Health that stated the following:

Commissioner’s determination pursuant to 10 NYCRR 2.62: Clarifies that schools may accept antigen OR NAAT testing to allow people to participate in school following COVID-19 symptoms. (Please see the following revised emergency regulations 10 NYCRR 2.60 and 10 NYCRR 2.62, and commissioner’s determination pursuant to those emergency regulations at https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/schools-youth.)

This morning (12/15), the Westchester County Department of Health (WCDOH) confirmed through email correspondence to CCSD that we could accept an antigen test for symptomatic individuals as long as the tested individual was not exposed to a COVID positive person. We will immediately make this shift in our practice.

Please note the following procedures remain in place:

  • If an individual is COVID positive, medical or WCDOH clearance is necessary to return to school.
  • If an individual is unvaccinated and lives in a household with a COVID positive individual, medical or WCDOH clearance is necessary to return to school.
  • The Chappaqua Central School District will not accept over-the-counter tests to satisfy COVID testing requirements.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Please reach out to your school nurse or principal with any questions regarding this notification.

Sincerely,

Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
