RE: COVID-19 Vaccinations for Children 5-11 Years Old and New Test-To-Stay Memorandum

Superintendent’s Update #17

December 10, 2021

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Families,

I hope this email finds you well. As previously shared, the Westchester County Department of Health (WCDOH), in collaboration with our District, will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for our students ages 5-11 on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

Administration of Dose 1
Register HERE
Location:  Robert E. Bell Middle School
Date:  Thursday, December 16th from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Administration of Dose 2
Students will be Registered at 1st Dose Appointment
Location:  Robert E. Bell Middle School
Date:  Thursday, January 6th from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Please note the following procedural requirements and considerations:

  • Only registered Chappaqua Central School District (CCSD) students will receive an appointment.
  • The vaccine is free for all CCSD students.
  • A parent or legal guardian MUST be present with the student receiving the vaccine.
  • In rare instances where you are unable to make back-to-back appointments for siblings, please email LiElsner@chappaquaschools.org and we will make the necessary adjustment.
  • All students who receive the first dose will be scheduled for the second dose on Thursday, January 6th.
  • Students will need to remain onsite for 15 minutes after the vaccine is administered for observation (students with a history of allergies will need to wait for 30 minutes).
  • Should our appointments exceed our allocation on December 16th, we will add an additional day to the schedule on December 17th.

The Westchester County Department of Health will have clinicians available to support and supervise this process. If you have any questions about the vaccine, please speak with your healthcare provider in advance of your appointment. I encourage you to register your child as soon as possible as there are a limited number of appointments.

I would also like to share that yesterday, the WCDOH released a new Test to Stay memorandum to superintendents. You can access the memo here. CCSD does not need to adjust any of our current protocols based on this new guidance document.

Thank you for all of your support and have a nice weekend.

Sincerely,

Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
