A message from the Superintendent

Superintendent's Update #23

June 6, 2021

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Families,

I hope this email finds you well. As I noted in my Friday letter to families, I write with an update on our mask expectations and to share remote instruction flexibility for tomorrow due to the anticipated heat index.

MASK EXPECTATIONS - Current Practices Remain in Place for Monday

School districts did not receive updated written guidance from the New York State Department of Health this weekend. Furthermore, this afternoon the NYS Education Department sent an email to Superintendents confirming there would be no new guidance issued today by the NYSDOH. Therefore, we will continue our current mask practices as required by the NYSDOH. Should the NYSDOH issue new written guidance on masks in the future, I will share it with you and we will follow this guidance moving forward.

REMOTE INSTRUCTION - Adjustment to Weekly Commitment Requirement

Monday is projected to be very warm and we will likely need to initiate our building heat alleviation plansPlease note the occupancy of these spaces will be reduced to accommodate social distancing. Due to the forecast, CCSD will allow K-8 students to select remote instruction for Monday and return to onsite instruction Tuesday-Friday. If you would like your child to learn remotely on Monday (6/7) only, please select this choice on our REMOTE LEARNING FORM by 7:30 am.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
