Senior Spotlight ~ Henry Gefsky
What are your plans for next year?
I will be attending Northwestern University as an Economics Major.
What’s a challenge that you overcame during your time at Greeley?
Junior year, I absolutely bombed a math test. It was during the most stressful time in my academic life, when I thought I couldn't afford a slip up. When I got that test grade back, I thought everything I had worked for the past three years was gone. I thought I should give up. I decided to keep pushing, though. I aced the next test, and finished the year with a hard fought 3.9. Though it wasn't my best grade that year, I was most proud of it because I overcame that test and pushed to the very end to earn that grade.
Share a favorite memory from your time in the District.
The JV A soccer team had a night game at Fox Lane. I was just coming off an injury that put me on the bench for a week. I wasn't sure how I was going to play, but I definitely was not expecting much. By some miracle, I had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win. It was the best game I played in my life. That was my favorite memory of my high school journey.
What do you hope to be remembered for by your teachers or peers?
I hope I will be remembered as someone who was not just a good student but also a person who kept the classroom light and fun. I want to be remembered for being a good person rather than a good student.
Congratulations to Henry and the Class of 2023!
