What are some of your proudest accomplishments during your time at Greeley?
I helped start the Student Fellowship program for the Greeley SRC (Sustainability Research Center). I started the program around three months ago, and now we have eight devoted members who help with the day-to-day maintenance and care of the entirety of the greenhouse, as well as all of the plants inside.

We collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to make lesson plans and assist in the creation of labs, experiments, and presentations. We perform our own experiments and have fun taking care of our plants all the while. Combining  my future career interests with my passion, I get to garden my heart out while learning how to effectively introduce systems. And I get to do it in a stunningly beautiful greenhouse in such a fabulous school.

What are your plans for next year?
My plans for next year are to attend college.  I wish to major in economics and minor in environmental sciences. Next year is devoted to beginning both my college experience and becoming a prominent real estate agent in Westchester.

What’s a challenge that you overcame during your time at Greeley?
One challenge I had to overcome being late to the game. I moved to Chappaqua when I was in 11th grade - a critical year for both high school studies and college. I had to make sure that I knew what I was doing; I needed to accomplish the same things if not more in two years than kids who’ve lived their whole life in the District. I overcame this challenge and am so proud of what I've achieved and the relationships I've made. I feel like my time at Greeley has been so much more than just two  years; it feels like a whole different lifetime where I got to grow exponentially as a person and a student.

How have Chappaqua's schools impacted you?
Chappaqua schools have impacted me in such a positive way. My name means a beautiful flower in a garden, and I like to think that I grew so much as a person and a student simply because I got placed in the right environment - Greeley. Greeley was the soil and only school I've attended in the District, but it is by far the best school I've ever experienced. The smallest things make such a big difference in a student’s education, and that's why when I came to Greeley after transferring from the Bronx; those small things changed my life. The environment of learning is so incredibly phenomenal, and even though I was only here for two years, I accomplished more than I would have in 10 years in the Bronx.

Share a favorite memory from your time in the District.
My favorite memory was when we visited Grafflin Elementary School with my Spanish class. My class collaborated with 1st graders and worked on writing a book in both Spanish and English with them. We go once a month and have so much fun working on our books and playing on the playground with them. It's lovely to see all of the young kids getting such a wonderful education while having the time of their lives.
