Board of Education to Appoint Interim Board Member

Alyson Gardner

At the January 12, 2022 Board of Education meeting, in accordance with District Policy 2055, the Chappaqua Central School District’s Board of Education will appoint Alyson Gardner as an Interim Member of the Board of Education. Ms. Gardner’s interim appointment to the Board of Education will be effective from January 12, 2022 until the next regular school election on May 17, 2022. She will serve on the School Board in the place of Victoria Bayard Tipp, who, at the December meeting, resigned her seat from the Board of Education in order to focus on her new role as a Town Trustee on the New Castle Town Board.

Ms. Gardner is returning to the Board of Education, where she previously served from 2009 through 2018, and also served as Board President during the 2011-2012 and 2016-2017 school years.

Ms. Gardner is a Chappaqua native, she has lived in the Chappaqua community for more than fifty years. She is a Chappaqua Central School District Alumni, her two eldest children have graduated from the Chappaqua Central School District and her youngest daughter is currently a junior at Horace Greeley High School.

Ms. Gardner humbly expressed her excitement for her return to the Board. “I am honored to be appointed to the Board of Education and to have the privilege of serving my community again. I look forward to reconnecting with past colleagues and to meeting new ones. I want to thank Vicky for her tireless work on behalf of our District and wish her well in her new role”.

Board of Education President, Hilary Grasso, expressed her gratitude to Ms. Gardner for her service as an interim Board member. “I want to thank Alyson for her willingness to return to the Board to help us through the next four months.  Alyson brings not only her familiarity with BoE issues and the budget process, but also deep financial knowledge. Although I have not personally had the opportunity to work with Alyson, every current board member who previously served with her has voiced their unequivocal support for her return to the Board to fill Vicky's seat. I very much look forward to working with her”.

We congratulate Ms. Gardner on her appointment and are excited to welcome her back to the Board table as we work together to support the students and families of the Chappaqua Central School District.
