Special Education Consultant
Dr. Carolyn McGuffog was appointed by the BOE as a consultant to assist the District in its review of special education practices and to share recommendations for improvement. The District hires consultants regularly to support our staff as they engage in curricular and social emotional work with our students. We welcome this opportunity to support the special education program in this way.
Dr. McGuffog’s work will focus on the following areas:
- Conduct a review and analysis of special education testing procedures/protocols.
- Conduct a review and analysis of identified evaluations to determine whether they were administered with accuracy/fidelity.
- Provide recommendations, as appropriate, to improve District evaluation practices.
- Provide/recommend professional development, as appropriate, to improve District evaluation practices.
Before her current role as the Superintendent for Greenburg-North Castle, Dr. McGuffog served for 26 years as a school psychologist and an assistant superintendent for special education in Pleasantville. She continues her work as a private practitioner supporting families of students with special needs. Dr. McGuffog holds doctorates from Columbia University in Psychology and Teacher Education, with a specialization in neuropsychology.
