Schools To Remain Closed

Important Announcement May 1 2020

Important Calendar Update

Dear Chappaqua School Community,

I hope this finds you and your families in good health. I have some difficult news to share with you today. As you may have heard, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced in a press conference this afternoon that schools will remain closed for the duration of the school year.

Please know that we understand the far-reaching impact that this closure has had and will have on our students and community. We share in the deep disappointment that many of our students and families are feeling. We miss our students, we miss our parents and, as a professional community, we miss each other. We know that many of you are thinking about the important end-of-year events that our students have earned, and deserve. We know that many of our athletes and performers are rightfully upset to be missing the capstone of the spring season.

And, of course, we are thinking of our seniors. While it is safe to say that the impact of this pandemic has affected us all, I am profoundly sorry that the expectations and joys associated with the many and varied culminating senior experiences have so drastically changed. On behalf of the entire school community, we remain here for you, and will continue to support you as you transition to life beyond Greeley in such a vastly different way. We remain committed to honoring and celebrating your many accomplishments. The Greeley administration will continue to explore the safest and most appropriate ways to make that possible.

With this news of the continued closure, we reaffirm our dedication to helping our students and community throughout this unprecedented time. We are committed to making our iLEARNING program stronger each day. Our student support teams are available to families who may be struggling. To that end, our building principals will be communicating with you at the beginning of next week and will be available this weekend should you need immediate assistance with urgent matters.

I would like to thank all members of our school community for your flexibility and commitment to supporting each other through this pandemic. You have my promise that the Chappaqua Central School District will continue to be a source of strength and support for our students and families through this extraordinarily difficult time.
