Horace Greeley High School Notification - November 6, 2020
November 6, 2020
Dear Greeley Families,
This morning, Greeley Principal Andrew Corsilia was notified of two additional COVID-19 positive cases in the high school community. One of the individuals testing positive has not been on campus and the other was last in the building on October 30th, and was not infectious at that time.
The District has been in contact with the Westchester County Department of Health who has advised that given the current information and the timeline that has passed, there is no need for the District to take further action with regard to contact tracing at this time in relation to these additional cases.
Also, please note, contact tracing was completed by school administration this afternoon in relation to the notice we sent last evening (11/5). All students and staff who had potential exposure have been notified and excluded from school until their quarantine period is completed.
To date, we now have six COVID-19 positive individuals in our high school community. While there does not appear to be a connection between the reported cases at this time, I have decided to cancel all activities on campus this afternoon (11/6), Saturday (11/7) and Sunday (11/8). This includes sports (varsity, JV, recreational) and college board assessments. On Sunday (11/8) I will make a decision as to whether or not Greeley will be open for onsite instruction on Monday, November 9, 2020, and if our extracurricular program will resume as well.
I plan to send a longer message to the entire community this afternoon with additional information for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
