A message from the Superintendent
Superintendent's Update #3
August 12, 2021
Dear Chappaqua Central School District Community,
I hope this email finds you and your family well. Last night, at the Board of Education meeting, I outlined our current thinking regarding the opening of our schools in September. I want to assure you that our plan is to have schools open to all students, every day. You can access last night’s presentation here.
After reviewing our presentation, we invite you to provide feedback and ask questions through our “September Opening Survey.” Your feedback will help us refine our plans for opening and your questions will inform the content of upcoming presentations and future correspondence.
In the days ahead, the following opportunities are available for you to hear from, and ask questions of, our administrative team.
- September Opening Webinar for Staff with our Central Office Team - August 18th at 4pm.
- September Opening Webinar for Parents with our Central Office Team - August 18th at 6pm.
- September Opening Webinars with your Building Principal (schedule).
- Freshmen/JV/Varsity Fall Sports Parent Webinar with our Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Health, Mr. Geoff Curtis, on August 19th at 6:30pm.
- Modified Fall Sports Parent Webinar with our Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Health, Mr. Geoff Curtis, on August 26th at 6:30pm.
- New Student Orientation for Grades 1-12 Families (schedule).
Please note, all resources and communications related to COVID-19 are housed on our CCSD COVID-19 Resources Page. We will continue to update this page as new information becomes available.
I anticipate receiving written guidance from the NYS Department of Education and the Westchester County Department of Health in the next few days. This guidance may either reaffirm our thinking or require us to adjust our current plan. Regardless, all students will have access to our robust instructional program come September.
As always, we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to refine our plans to best meet the needs of our school community.
Sincerely,
Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
