Superintendent’s Update #39

April 19, 2022

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Families and Staff,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to you with an adjustment to our home testing procedures for unvaccinated staff and students presenting with COVID-like symptoms. Moving forward, and until further notice, all staff and students will follow the same home testing procedures when presenting with symptoms.

Home Test Procedures

All students or staff members (regardless of vaccination status) presenting with symptoms that would require a negative test to return to school must test twice using a home test. The District has home test kits available at all security vestibules for all families and staff.

A home test must be administered (and results uploaded here) the day before the symptomatic individual returns to school and the morning they are scheduled to come back to the building (the tests must be at least six hours apart). CCSD will not accept home tests for symptomatic students or staff outside of our process. All students/staff may continue to submit lab confirmed COVID-19 tests to return to school.

Please be advised that individuals may present with symptoms for many reasons. It is imperative that families follow recommendations from their physicians with regard to the need for medical treatment. Negative COVID-19 tests do not rule out other serious health conditions.

Thank you for your understanding and we will continue to make adjustments as the pandemic evolves.

Sincerely,

Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
