Superintendent's Update #16

December 6, 2021

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Families and Staff,

I hope this email finds you well. I write to share that on Friday (12/3), superintendents and local health departments received another Revised Updated Testing and Quarantine Supplemental Information to the “Interim NYSDOH Guidance for Classroom Instruction in P-12 Schools During the 2021-2022 Academic Year.” The full document can be read here.

The Westchester County Department of Health (WCDOH) has not released any additional written information or guidance since this memo was released. As such, we will continue our Test to Stay (TTS) and Testing Out of Quarantine processes. I also would like to provide clarification on two additional sections of the memo.

  • Section II Covid-19 Testing of Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Persons to Permit School Participation After Covid-like Symptoms (pg2):  At this time, PCR tests are the only acceptable assessments for unvaccinated and vaccinated individuals who were symptomatic. This includes individuals who have been recently vaccinated and who are in need of COVID-19 testing (WCDOH has not authorized alternative testing methods)

  • Section VIII Use of Over-the-Counter Tests (pg5):  At this time, the Chappaqua Central School District will not accept over-the-counter tests to satisfy COVID testing requirements.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Should the Westchester County Department of Health send out a memorandum that addresses any aspect of the NYSDOH supplemental information, I will share it with you as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
