Counseling
Chappaqua K-12 Counseling prepares all students to be contributing and responsible citizens while upholding the District’s academic mission. Our counseling program is designed to support the whole student, enhancing their strengths through academic, experiential, and social emotional learning. We partner with educators, administrators, parents and guardians, and the broader community to promote participation, collaboration, and achievement. Whatever their postsecondary path, Chappaqua students are prepared with the skills and attributes to be successful in their future.
Our K-12 Counseling and Clinical Departments Believe:
-
Students’ social/emotional health and well being are the responsibility of all within the school and home communities
-
Students can be taught the skills necessary to be resilient, to self-regulate, and persevere.
-
Students can learn from challenges, setbacks and constructive feedback as well as successes.
-
Establishing clear and consistent boundaries among all constituents is necessary to create a safe and predictable educational environment.
- Success can be defined on an individual basis.
- The encouragement and development of strong interpersonal relationships is essential to students’ feeling strongly connected to peers and adults.
- Clear and open communication among administrators, teachers, students and parents is essential to students’ success, growth and well being.
- A partnership with parents is imperative if we hope to build and reinforce a strong community
