April 9, 2026
Dear Chappaqua Central School District Community,
Last evening, the Board of Education voted to adopt the proposed 2026–2027 School Budget of $150,125,516, which represents a 3.97% increase over the current year’s budget. The proposed budget includes a 2.99% tax levy increase, which is below the New York State tax cap.
The adopted budget enhances our academic, social-emotional, and extracurricular programs, supports our strategic priorities, and is tax-cap compliant.
Budget highlights include:
- Maintaining optimal class sizes and staffing levels by preserving current student-to-teacher ratios and existing staffing structures.
- Expanding early learning opportunities by increasing access to the Pre-Kindergarten program.
- Enhancing student support and special education services, including adding a K–12 behavioral specialist and a social worker/psychologist at HGHS.
- Investing in safety, security, and infrastructure through upgraded camera and PA systems, along with key facility improvements.
Our budget reflects a responsible and forward-looking approach—supporting our schools and programs while strengthening long-term financial stability through increased state aid and the strategic use of reserves.
We encourage all community members to learn more about the proposed budget and the upcoming school board election by visiting our Budget Website, where you can access presentations, resources and the school property tax calculator. The budget book will be available online and in print at each school, the Education Center, New Castle Town Hall, and the Chappaqua Public Library on May 7th.
The Annual Budget Vote and Board of Education Election will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM in the gymnasium at Horace Greeley High School. Additional information regarding voter registration and absentee ballots is available on our website.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Christine Ackerman, PhD
