Board of Education Letter to the Community 10/4/22
October 4, 2022
Dear Chappaqua Central School District Community
A few weeks ago, we wrote to you about the need for important repairs and improvements to our facilities and a significant safety upgrade at Greeley. We have continued our discussions with the District Administration on how to best address these essential capital improvements, as we believe they are necessary to ensure that we can continue to provide the safest and most supportive learning environment for our students.
We have successfully managed our facilities under the tax levy limit since it was established in 2011, and the Chappaqua community has not been presented with an infrastructure bond since 1994. These necessary repairs and upgrades, however, require a significant financial commitment, and therefore cannot be addressed through our annual operating budget. After seven public meetings to discuss these needs, the Board of Education decided last night to move forward with two bond referendums for your consideration. A community vote on these referendums will take place on November 29, 2022.
By supporting these propositions, the District will be able to complete critical repairs, upgrade our infrastructure, and address safety concerns. All communications and presentations related to these bond referendums are available on our website.
We are committed and focused on maintaining our facilities and improving school security in order to provide the best possible academic and social-emotional learning environment for all of our children. Thank you for your consideration and ongoing support of our students and schools.
Sincerely,
The Chappaqua Central School District Board of Education
