Greeley Principal's Introduction
Dear Horace Greeley School Community,
At Horace Greeley School, we take immense pride in our rich tradition of academic excellence, where 99% of students go on to higher education. Our teaching methods are deeply rooted in a philosophy that prioritizes authentic, real-world problem-solving experiences for our students and a caring environment that supports the needs of all students.
We believe that education is not simply about memorizing facts and figures, but rather about empowering our students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an ever-changing world. That's why our approach to learning goes beyond traditional methods to incorporate hands-on, experiential opportunities into every facet of the curriculum. We believe in empowering students to take charge of their own learning journey, which is why our flexible schedule encourages independence and effective time management skills.
From conducting science experiments in our state-of-the-art STEAM Center to collaborating with peers on interdisciplinary challenges, students at Horace Greeley School are constantly encouraged to explore, discover, and innovate. We firmly believe that the best way for students to truly understand and retain knowledge is through active engagement and application. By immersing themselves in real-world scenarios, our students develop critical thinking skills, foster creativity, and ignite a passion for lifelong learning. We offer a variety of academic programs that give students the opportunity to follow their passions whether in the sciences, arts or humanities.
At Horace Greeley School, we understand that every child learns differently, which is why we provide a variety of academic support for students who may need them. From targeted interventions and personalized learning plans to enrichment opportunities and advanced coursework, we strive to meet the unique needs of every learner, ensuring that all students have the resources and support they need to thrive. Our counseling department includes school counselors, psychologists, a student assistance counselor, and other staff members who support all of our students.
Several priorities from our strategic plan will guide our efforts next school year. One of our key focuses is on providing students with a diverse range of academic and curricular experiences that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Whether through project-based learning initiatives, STEAM enrichment activities, or service-learning projects, we are committed to offering a well-rounded education that prepares students for success in an increasingly complex world.
As we embark on this new school year, I am confident that together, we can continue to inspire and empower our students to become engaged learners, compassionate leaders, and active contributors to their communities.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sandra Sepe
