Roaring Brook Principal's Introduction
At Roaring Brook Elementary School, we believe strong relationships between students, educators, and families are paramount to a successful learning environment. When entering classrooms, we see students excited and engaged in activities that spark the desire to learn more. As educators, we value a purposeful combination of instructional strategies, like direct instruction, group work, hands-on and minds-on activities, and personalized learning. The entire RBS team works to foster a culture of respect and acceptance.
Our educational program is aligned to our District curriculum and strategic priorities. Teachers are committed to providing strong instruction in a supportive environment.
Alongside academic learning, we prioritize the development of social and emotional skills and learning. We understand that students need to feel supported and included. Within the classroom setting, teachers hold daily morning meetings to check in with students before academics begin. Every teacher is joined by another adult so that students can build strong relationships with multiple staff members.
In addition to this morning meeting structure, Assistant Principal Nadia Buffa and I host a monthly Town Meeting for each grade level. This time is intentionally student-centered and structured with many opportunities for students to feel supported. In addition, the entire school community gathers once a month for a School Spirit Assembly, led by music teacher Don Dupont. This time focuses on school themes and improving our sense of belonging while bringing together students for song, stories, and poetry.
On our Academics website, you will find more information about our elementary school programs and be able to explore curricular programs and resources. You can also use the menu on the right to navigate to the other school levels or to learn about our K-12 curriculum across subject areas.
Roaring Brook Elementary School is a wonderful learning community! Our school has been intentionally designed to provide a solid foundation of knowledge and skills that will support your child’s academic success and personal growth.
We look forward to working with you this school year. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Tonya Wilson
