1035 - Notification Regarding Paroled Sex Offenders
The New York State Division of Parole has promulgated guidelines which provide for notification to school districts with respect to paroled sex offenders residing within the school district. The notification typically relates to parolees whose conditions of parole require them to stay away from public or non-public school grounds and other areas where children congregate. The notification contains identifying information which may permit district employees to identify said individuals in the event they enter onto, or in proximity to, district property. The Board of Education desires that this information be distributed in a responsible manner and, therefore, directs the Superintendent of Schools to establish a regulation for a uniform response by school district personnel to such notification from the Parole Division.
