BOARD OF EDUCATION

Present:  Board of Education

Staff Members:

    Andrew Lennon, Assistant Superintendent for Business

1.      Call the meeting to order.

Motioned by Hilary Grasso to open the public meeting at 11:03 am.  Seconded by Ryan Kelsey.  Motion carried 4-0.  Board member Warren Messner was absent.

2.      Proposed Executive Session to discuss the appointment of particular individuals, and to discuss matters of safety and security. 

Motioned by Hilary Grasso to adjourn into Executive Session at 11:03 am to discuss the appointment of particular individuals, and to discuss matters of safety and security.  Seconded by Ryan Kelsey.  Motion carried 4-0.

Board Vice President Warren Messner joined the meeting at 11:07 am.

3.      Reconvene Public Meeting.

Motioned by Hilary Grasso to reconvene the public meeting at 1:36 pm.  Seconded by Ryan Kelsey.  Motion carried 5-0.

4.      Recommended Action:   Personnel 

Dr. Ackerman recommended Item 4.1 as stated below.

4.1    Instructional

Appointment: Probationary
Dr. Andrew Taylor, Director of Technology & Innovation, District-wide, to a probationary appointment in the tenure area of Director of Technology & Innovation, effective July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2027, as recommended by the Superintendent of Schools, $215,000 (pending background check).

Ms. Jillian McRae, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Staff Developer, District-wide, to a probationary appointment in the tenure area of English, effective August 31, 2023 through August 30, 2027, subject to receipt of composite or overall annual professional performance review ratings pursuant to Education law Section 3012-c and/or 3012-d of either effective or highly effective in at least three (3) of the four (4) proceeding years, and if the probationer receives an ineffective composite or overall rating in the final year of the probationary period they shall not be eligible for tenure at that time, Step 23, C(BA+75) with Masters, $142,029.

Ms. Andrea Stein, Teacher of Special Education, Robert E. Bell Middle School, to a probationary appointment in the tenure area of Special Education, effective August 31, 2023 through August 30, 2027, subject to receipt of composite or overall annual professional performance review ratings pursuant to Education law Section 3012-c and/or 3012-d of either effective or highly effective in at least three (3) of the four (4) proceeding years, and if the probationer receives an ineffective composite or overall rating in the final year of the probationary period they shall not be eligible for tenure at that time, Step 13, C(BA+60) with Masters, $119,471.

Motioned by Warren Messner to approve Item 4.1 as stated above.  Seconded by Jane Kimmel Shepardson.  Motion carried 5-0.

5.      Recommended Action:  Other

5.1    BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby approves the Chappaqua Central School District’s corrective action plan, dated May 25, 2023, in response to the Office of the New York State Comptroller’s audit report number 2022M-186 (Fixed Assets).

Motioned by Warren Messner to approve Item 5.1 as stated above.  Seconded by Jane Kimmel Shepardson.  Motion carried 5-0.
