Policy 5003: Voter Registration for Students
The Board of Education believes that encouraging young people to be involved in the election process helps to secure the future of democracy by preparing them to be educated, engaged citizens who have formed the habit of voting and contributing to civic life early.
In an effort to promote student voter registration, the high school principal or other designees shall offer to all students who are 16 years old or older the opportunity to register or pre-register to vote.
Registration or pre-registration by students is voluntary and no student will be penalized for choosing not to do so. Registration/Pre-Registration will not be a course requirement or a graded assignment.
