Each of our schools has a STEAM Center or Makerspace where students develop 21st-century skills like collaboration, creativity, computational thinking, and digital citizenship through coding, robotics, digital design, and more. Using the CCSD Design Thinking Process, students utilize a range of technology, including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and more, with a range of tools and resources for learners and innovators of all ages.

Our Global Learning Centers (GLCs) transform our elementary and high school libraries into innovative 21st-century learning centers, complementing traditional print materials with a range of digital resources and new technologies. With space for whole classes, flexible seating, presentations, collaboration, and breakout rooms, they are a hub for learning, technology, and literacy in our schools.

Our middle schools and Grafflin Elementary School all have hydroponics lab spaces, where students are taught about sustainability, hydroponics, and gardening in order to develop an understanding of their relationship with the earth. Guided by the NYS K-12 Sustainability Standards, explore the intersection of science, technology, and environmental stewardship, preparing for a greener future.

In every school, many of our classroom spaces have been reimagined to use space to amplify learning and create more options for students. These classrooms are thoughtfully designed to provide students with a comfortable and productive learning environment, often featuring flexible seating like carpets, cafe tables, high tops, sofa cushions, as well as more structured tables and seating. This dynamic environment fosters engagement and provides diverse opportunities for personalized education.

Outdoor learning spaces can be found at each school, including courtyards, gardens, nature trails, playgrounds, and amphitheaters. These vibrant environments enrich learning, promote exploration, and help students connect with nature beyond traditional classroom boundaries. Bell Middle School’s courtyard is pictured above, featuring an aquaponics pond, seating, and the school's iconic 1928 architecture.

The Fitness & Athletic Center epitomizes the District’s commitment to physical and mental health, wellness, and sportsmanship. The space includes a 5000-sq. ft. Fitness Center; a 2800-sq. ft. Mind Body Studio for yoga, Pilates and other movement disciplines; and the Exhibition Gym, our 11,500-sq. ft. Main Gym, equipped with a multipurpose high-tech audio visual system and media board.
